Regions of the lower limb – Anatomy Atlas

Overview

Regions of the lower limb The lower limb is divided into 7 main regions – gluteal region, hip region, femoral (thigh) region, knee region, leg region, talocrural region and foot region. Some of these regions are divided in accordance to their anterior and posterior surface, and some have specific subregions through which clinically significant neurovascular structures pass. An especially important region is found in the upper third of the anterior thigh, called the femoral triangle, through which the femoral nerve, artery and vein pass.
